Entering Text

Whether you're writing an entry for a new object, or responding to a comment in a journal, you have some limitted stylistic mark-up available to you.

linking
You can link to another object by using [[double brackets]] surrounding the name of the object you'd like to link to. If you want, you can link to an object with alternate text by using the pipe character. For instnace, if you're talking about cartoons, but want to link it to a specific character, you could write: [[Daffy Duck|Cartoons]] have played a significant role in the series. This will render as:
Cartoons have played a significant role in the series.
Links to objects that haven't been written yet will have a broken line underneath them. Feel free to create a write-up for these objects, or to leave open links for others.
bold
If you want to present part of your write-up in a bold manner, you can surround the text with *asterisks*.
emphasis
If you want to emphasise part of your write-up, you can surround the text with **two asterisks**.
You can indicate strong emphasis by using ***three asterisks***.
underline
If you want to underline part of your write-up, you can surround the text with _underscores_.
stike-through
If you want to strike part of your write-up, you can surround the text with ---three dashes---.
superscript
If you need to write a superscript, you can do so using carrats. For example, 32 = 9 can be written as 3^2^ = 9
subscript
If you need to write a subscript, you can do so using commas. For example, d1 = 4 can be written as d,1, = 4

Please note that spacing can sometimes affect the rendering of these characters. Usually there cannot be a space immediately following the first character, nor can there be a non-space character after the second of the pair.

Discussions

Namespaces

Discussions have namespaces, which are separated from an entry by the use of the colon (':'). You should refrain from using this character in your object names because future behaviour is not guaranteed to support it properly.
