The Margherita pizza is a standard Neapolitan or New York style pizza with a base of tomato sauce, (fresh) mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil.
As with all
Neapolitan pizza
,
buffalo mozzarella
should be used if available--but practically speaking, outside of Italy, it probably isn't.
