Not particularly good coffee

Many restaurants and diners, particularly in the United States, serve not particularly good coffee. The qualities of their coffee which prevent it from being reasonably considered good often involves being watered down and almost universally involves an absolute lack of flavour. My leading theory for why this is that Americans don't like coffee.
