Physical, full-sized, keyboards were a major advancement on mobile phones. Originally found on oddities such as the expensive, business-oriented
Nokia Communicator line, they facilitated not only
texting and messaging but even basic office work while on the go replacing the repetitive and slow
multi-tap input and often error-prone
predicative input methods.
