Using Amazon as a Wedding Registry

The idea of using an online retailer for a wedding registry seems appealing. The item needs to be shipped form them anyway, so it's easy for the gifter to simply have it mailed to its final location.

Unfortunately, Amazon.com hides the actual recipient's address, and for some items you get an annoying: We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to a Wish List or gift registry address.

And that is it. Obviously there's a failure in the system somewhere; the idea still works, but Amazon drops the ball.
