Where the Wild Things Are (book) is a 1963 illustrated children's book by Maurice Sendak. It has won numerous awards, including the 1964 Caldecott Medal. It has also been adapted into other forms, such as an opera by the original author and a live-action film by Spike Jonze and Dave Eggers.
