My Opinion of One goal never made a difference:

/In the course of 82 games, one goal never made a difference./

This was the sentiment conveyed by my father Nov 21, 1995 after NHL referee Lance Roberts waived-off the game-tying goal by Steve Thomas for the New Jersey Devils over the Florida Panthers.

The Devils ended-up missing the play-offs by one game, and the Panthers ended-up winning the Prince of Wales Trophy. The referee waived-off the goal by Steve Thomas claiming the whistle had already blown. Replays showed that the puck had crossed the goal line and already bounced-off the back of the net before the whistle had blown.
