Along with
Ron Hextall and
Martin Brodeur, one of the first
NHL goalies to make wide use of agressive puck handling and clearing passes. Unlike most keepers, CuJo flipps his stick around when handling the puck, such that his catcher is the top hand which provides him with more control and a better grip than most keepers have, but at an increase in time to switch from his keeper stance into the puck handling grip, and back to be in a standard position that can leave him extra-vulnerable if his pass or clearing attempt is intercepted.
