IKEA is a Swedish company well known for its international franchise of
build-it-yourself furniture, but its most profitable business is
tax avoidance. It is also a
song.
IKEA the company is majority owned by a tax-exempt non-profit,
INGA Holdings, which prohibits the
founders from receiving profits directly. However, the company does list a large annual business expense to a holding group most likely controlled by the founder
Ingvar Kamprad. The company has been admonished for its tax-avoidance by the
Berne Declaration.
