MicroSoft Exchange used to be a
server
/
client
pair of applications for
MicroSoft Windows
which were built around the
Windows Messaging API
.
MicroSoft
replaced the client component with
MicroSoft Outlook
and moved towards standard
POP
and
SMTP
support.
