The /United Buddy Bears/ were a German exhibit originating in
Berlin but later travelling internationally.
The exhibit started, much like the
CowParade of Zurich and Chicago, as individual bears scattered across Berlin in 2001. In 2002, bears that had been decorated in countries throughout the world represented their respective countries in a circle around the
Brandenburg Gate. Since then, the exhibit, as a symbol of world unity, has been shown in major cities of different countries throughout the world.
