It's become increasingly difficult to find
grosgrain waistcoats. I got my hopes up when I saw an old 1920's period
tuxedo set for sale, including waistcoat; but apparently I was too late as someone else had purchased it. A
white cotton piqué waistcoat looked to be my only choice, despite it being more properly available for
white tie. Rumours of a
Ralph Lauren waistcoat piqued my interest but nobody seemed to carry it. Finally, in
a moment of desperation, I tried searching on
eBay, and sure enough, somebody was selling two--including one in my size.
