Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is a World Heritage Site, one of the seven new wonders of the world, and one of the most marvelous places on earth. A remnant of the Incan Empire in Peru, it is reachable by bus from Aguas Calientes. It is best to arrive early in the day for three reasons: 1) only a set number of tourists may enter in one day; after that number is reached, you will need to return another day; 2) the earlier you arrive, the more time you can spend exploring the magnificent site; and 3) watching the city gradually appear out of the clouds as the morning fog burns off is an unspeakably awesome spectacle.
