That's a very useful addendum to the post, since it wasn't known to me before.

However, non-standard behaviour should not be enabled by default. I'm not sure if this is the fault of OpenDNS defaults, or Open Mesh default configuration.

I've found Level3 anycast DNS servers to be the best general-case solution considering all of the issues with some local monopolies, the responsiveness of the Level3 servers, and the memorableness of the Level3 addresses.
