I like using VoIP as it is more economical and democratic. I also don't like being tied to a number, and a globally addressable SIP address is much more personal. However, a lot of the world likes being attached to the plain old telephony system and won't get of the POTS. Because of this, VoIP to POTS gateways play an important role in voice communications.
