Polo Ralph Lauren put out and advertisement in the Fall of 2009 that included a manipulated image of a hideously deformed model whose head was significantly bigger than her waist.

People the Internet over made fun of the image, after which Polo Ralph Lauren sent DMCA take-down notices. They later realized they're the ones who put the image out in the first place, and sites like Boing Boing refused to take the image down as their use was constitutionally protected free speech (that both the DMCA and Bill of Rights are US-specific, and that Boing Boing is hosted in Canada, seemed to be ancillary).
