I don't understand why more registrars don't give out a
signed SSL certificate with a domain registration. As the user base increases, the cost goes to nothing (each signing adds no cost, there's just an initial cost for the certificate authority).
Gandi.net recently became an accredited authority, and I've started having even my personal certificates signed by them as an extra layer of trust and usability for visitors. It also gives them a great means of up-selling to more
magical certificate signed by
organizations that have a bit more clout.
